Set in Nevada in the 1860s, Bonanza chronicled the adventures of the Cartwright family who owned a large ranch called The Ponderosa. Ben Cartwright and his three sons, Adam, Hoss, and Joe fought for what was just and decent in a time where lawlessness was common.
The widowed patriarch Ben Cartwright had three sons, each by a different wife: the oldest was the urbane architect Adam Cartwright, who built the ranch house. The second was the warm and lovable giant Eric, better known by his nickname "Hoss." And the youngest was the hotheaded and impetuous Joseph or "Little Joe." They all lived and worked on The Ponderosa. Nearby Virginia City helped populate the episodes with guest starring characters from all over America.
Broadcast between September 1959 and January 1973. Filmed by the National Broadcasting Company at Paramount Studios.
"Feet Of Clay"
The Cartwrights take young Billy Allen to the Ponderosa, following the death of his mother. The sheriff needs someone to care for Billy until his uncle comes to take custody. Bitter and with a bad attitude, Hoss seems to be the only one that is able to penetrate the boy's hostility. When Billy finally starts to open up and trust Hoss, his father Vance breaks out of prison and comes for the boy. Hoss has come to love Billy as a son and does what is necessary to protect him.

One of the best
Another great episode where Hoss takes the leading role.
Good story, well acted. Some really stirring scenes. These are the stories Bonanza seems to do best.
PD replacement theme music seems somehow more suited to this sort of tale than the original IMHO!

A Boy and his Hoss
A moving performance by Dan Blocker highlights this episode. Young David Ladd (son of Alan) grew up to be a major producer in Hollywood. Victor Sen Yung provides comic relief in a few scenes. Replacement theme music sounds like Duane Eddy.

I actually like the generic beginning and ending
Call me goofy but I really do like the generic theme. Is it better than the original? HELL NO! But it's not bad. As for the episode? Wonderful entry in to Bonanza!

I love these
I love these Bonanza shows, but what's wrong with the opening theme? Did NBC keep the opening theme under copyright and not allow the show to keep it's wonderful opening?
